The article presents a sequence in which the Séme diviner recounts a journey across the land of his village to summon invisible entities, and an example of it is reproduced in the appendix. After a few reminders about this divination, the place of the articulate discourses in it is clarified. The observable aspects of the rite, its semantic content, its prosody and acoustic atmosphere, the formulations of the diviner, the sites and persons invoked are studied. The imaginary dimension and psychic state of the officiant during the sequence are examined through the diviners' glosses and then commented on. During his performance, the diviner seems to be just on the edge of a trance-like state that enables him to get closer to the bush-spirits.
