Thai agriculture was extended on all arable lands, supported by research on soils. To monitor soil degradations and assess sustainability, long-term experiments are needed. To get comparable and high quality data, standardisation should be made mandatory. Efficient soil rehabilitation practices need increased knowledge on local soil biota. Diffuse soil pollution is an emerging issue; its extension should be monitored.
