The anthropobiological collection of the Musée de l'Homme, with about 26 000 items, is ranked as the third or fourth richest collection in the world. It is remarkable not only for its largeness, but also for the exceptional diversity of origin of the samples. The collection is under the responsibility of a scientific curator (Pr.Dr. Alain Froment), in charge of encouraging research projects, and a technical manager (Dr. Philippe Mennecier) who gives access to the collection through a website request portal. The four missions of the anthropology section, included in the public policy of the National Museum of Natural History, are 1) Conservation, 2) Display, 3) Teaching (PhD level), and 4) Research.
