PECHE ARTISANALE PECHEUR STRUCTURE SOCIALE AMENAGEMENT DES PECHES POLITIQUE REGIONALE RECHERCHE PLURIDISCIPLINAIRE This paper presents a review of the development, especially after the 1970s, of social science research on small-scale fisheries in Para State, Amazonia Region, Brazil. The complexity of fisheries social organisation and the changing processes in the Amazon Basin are the factors which have inspired and induced the studies. Some suggestions for interdisciplinary research are presented, in order to improve the knowledge of small-scale fisheries and of interventions in this sector.
