@article{fdi:010094401, title = {{A} densely sampled nuclear phylogenomic analysis of the coryphoid palms ({A}recaceae : {C}oryphoideae)}, author = {{W}risberg, {O}. and {P}etoe, {P}. and {F}erreira, {P}. {D}. and {B}acon, {C}. {D}. and {B}arfod, {A}. {S}. and {B}ellot, {S}. and {C}ano, {A}. and {C}ouvreur, {T}homas and {D}ransfield, {J}. and {H}enderson, {A}. and {S}tauffer, {F}. {W}. and {B}aker, {W}. {J}. and {E}iserhardt, {W}. {L}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he palm family ({A}recaceae) has a rich history of phylogenetic research, including several recent phylogenomic studies. {H}owever, densely sampled phylogenomic datasets for larger palm clades - such as subfamilies - are still few in number. {W}e used target sequence capture to obtain data for 971 nuclear genes across 421 (ca. 80%) species in the subfamily {C}oryphoideae. {W}e inferred a robust phylogenetic tree to address systematic issues in the subfamily, specifically the relationships among tribes {C}ryosophileae, {S}abaleae, {P}hoeniceae and {T}rachycarpeae, the affinities of seven genera in {T}rachycarpeae that are not currently assigned to any subtribe, and the monophyly of genera across the subfamily. {W}e recovered relationships among tribes that are in accordance with other major nuclear phylogenomic datasets, but that are incongruent with trees derived from plastome sequences. {I}mportantly, the placement of tribe {P}hoeniceae (the date palms) remains contentious. {O}ur tree recovered with high support the relationship of all unplaced {T}rachycarpeae genera, paving the way for an updated classification. {M}ost genera were resolved as monophyletic except for {L}ivistona and all three genera of tribe {C}aryoteae, calling for a revision of generic limits. {O}ur tree clarifies the relationships of many fan palm species for the first time, allowing for future studies of diversification, trait evolution or biogeography.}, keywords = {{H}yb-{S}eq ; {P}almae ; phylogenetics ; phylogenomics ; target sequence capture ; {T}rachycarpeae}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{T}axon}, volume = {[{E}arly access]}, numero = {}, pages = {[21 p.]}, ISSN = {0040-0262}, year = {2025}, DOI = {10.1002/tax.13384}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010094401}, }
