  abstract = {{D}utailliopsis ({R}utaceae) is a scarcely known monotypic genus from {N}ew {C}aledonia. {I}t is one of the few genera of {R}utaceae that has never been included in a molecular phylogenetic study. {B}ased on {S}anger sequencing of the markers {ETS}, {ITS}, and trn{L}-trn{F}, we conclude that {D}utailliopsis is nested within the large genus {M}elicope and that it is most closely related to other {N}ew {C}aledonian species of {M}elicope. {P}revious molecular phylogenetic studies revealed that other {N}ew {C}aledonian genera - namely the endemic {C}omptonella, {D}utaillyea, {P}icrella, and the near-endemic {S}arcomelicope (only one out of the nine species is not endemic to {N}ew {C}aledonia) - are nested in {M}elicope as well and we propose nomenclatural changes to render {M}elicope monophyletic and develop a new classification system for the genus.},
