However, this approach, which is based on participation, promotion of experiential knowledge, peer support, strengthening through exchange with others who have experienced similar difficulties, and change by and with the communities affected, is particularly relevant to an understanding of the migration experiences of immigrants in precarious situations, dealing with the difficulties of exile and arrival in a new country. This article aims to show how empowerment is a useful concept for designing and implementing interventions and research aimed at immigrants, provided that it is used in all of its dimensions, including the collective dimension based on social participation.
