  abstract = {{T}he sleeping sickness focus of {B}onon was the last one still active at a low endemic level in {C} & ocirc;te d'{I}voire. {A}n entomological survey carried out in {J}une 2015 during the rainy season using "{V}avoua" traps guided subsequent control activities. {I}ndeed, it improved knowledge of tsetse fly ecology. {A}ll the tsetse flies caught (i.e. 1909) belonged to the subspecies {G}lossina palpalis palpalis ({R}obineau-{D}esvoidy, 1830), the major vector of {H}uman {A}frican {T}rypanosomiasis ({HAT}) in {C}{\^o}te d'{I}voire. {I}n this paper, we looked at the relationship between the apparent density ({AD}, flies/trap/day) and biotopes. {T}he {AD} significantly varied according to biotopes, with high density around villages. {T}he trypanosomes overall infection rate (mature and immature) according to microscopic observation was 23.2%. {W}hen considering mature infections, the infection rate was 5.5 %. {P}olymerase chain reaction ({PCR}) analyses confirmed the presence of {T}rypanosoma brucei s.l. and {T}rypanosoma congolense "forest type". {B}lood meals analysis using cytochrome b gene sequences revealed that tsetse flies fed on pigs. {T}he edges of the villages seem to constitute preferred habitats for tsetse flies where they are protected from insecticide pressure in the fields, and where they can easily take bloodmeals from free-ranging pigs. {T}he findings of this study provided a baseline in decision-making for subsequent vector control activities.},
