@article{fdi:010093381, title = {{A} {L}ife course approach to investigate breast cancer and migration in the greater {P}aris area : the {SENOVIE} study protocol}, author = {{C}oulibaly, {K}. and {S}chantz, {C}l{\'e}mence and {T}eixeira, {L}. and du {L}oû, {A}. {D}. and {D}es {G}uetz, {G}. and {H}ocini, {H}. and {Z}elek, {L}. and {L}armarange, {J}oseph and {G}osselin, {A}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}ntroduction {B}reast cancer is a global public health challenge. {I}t is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and the leading cause of cancer-related death in women. {S}everal inequalities remain among women facing this disease, depending on their country of birth and their sociodemographic characteristics. {T}he {SENOVIE} study ({T}herapeutic mobility and breast cancer) aims to understand the life trajectories of women born in {F}rance and in sub-{S}aharan {A}frica treated for breast cancer in four hospitals in the greater {P}aris area.{M}ethods and analysis {T}he {SENOVIE} study is a mixed methods study, combining a quantitative and a qualitative approach. {A} quantitative retrospective life-event survey is conducted in four hospital centres in the greater {P}aris area, {F}rance, to (1) understand how breast cancer (diagnosis, treatment and possibly reconstruction) impacts the life trajectories of women in many spheres (migration, family life, professional life, financial situation, etc); (2) study the access to healthcare by women living with breast cancer and their determinants; and (3) examine how gender relations may shape breast cancer experience. {W}omen born in {F}rance and women born in sub-{S}aharan {A}frica are recruited: 1000 women, including 500 per group. {I}n the standardised, face-to-face questionnaire, each dimension of interest is collected year by year from birth until the time of the survey. {C}linical and laboratory information is documented with a short medical questionnaire filled out by the medical teams. {T}he qualitative survey is conducted specifically with women born in sub-{S}aharan {A}frica who came to {F}rance for treatment to better understand their trajectories and the specific obstacles they faced. {T}o analyse the quantitative data collected, descriptive analyses will be used to visualise trajectories (sequence analysis), along with longitudinal analysis methods (survival models and duration models).{E}thics and dissemination {T}he study is conducted in accordance with the {D}eclaration of {H}elsinki. {T}he {F}rench {D}ata {P}rotection {A}uthority ({C}ommission {N}ationale de l'{I}nformatique et des {L}ibert & eacute;s, declaration number 2231238) and the {C}ommittee for {P}ersons' {P}rotection {E}ast {I} ({C}omit & eacute; de {P}rotection des {P}ersonnes {E}st {I}, national number 2023-{A}01311-44) approved it. {W}e will disseminate the findings through scientific publications, policy briefs, conferences and workshops.{T}rial registration number {T}he {SENOVIE} {F}rance study is registered on {C}linicaltrial.gov ({NCT}06503393; registration date: 7 {S}eptember 2024; https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/{NCT}06503393).}, keywords = {{C}ancer genetics ; {H}ealth {S}urveys ; {L}ife {C}hange {E}vents ; {O}bservational ; {S}tudy ; {B}reast tumours ; {PUBLIC} {HEALTH} ; {FRANCE} ; {MALI} ; {BENIN} ; {CAMBODGE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{BMJ} {O}pen}, volume = {15}, numero = {4}, pages = {e095759 [10 p.]}, ISSN = {2044-6055}, year = {2025}, DOI = {10.1136/bmjopen-2024-095759}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010093381}, }
