fisheries and aquaculture are managed primarily for economic gains, thereby not fully leveraging their potential to enhance food security and wellbeing. {T}his study analysed the nutritional composition of the marine











species cultivated in {S}outh {A}frica and quantified the nutrient supply they provide. {T}he species examined include various fish such as seagrown rainbow trout ({O}ncorhynchus mykiss), yellowtail ({S}eriola lalandi),











and dusky kob ({A}rgyrosomus japonicus), along with molluscs like abalone ({H}aliotis midae), black mussel ({C}horomytilus meridionalis), {M}editerranean mussel ({M}ytilus galloprovincialis), and {P}acific oyster











({C}rassostrea gigas), and seaweeds {U}lva lacinulata and {G}racilaria gracilis. {T}he presentation will explore the nutrient supply of various production scenarios, including the strategic utilization of by-products from











some of these farmed species, to enhance the role of aquatic foods in meeting the recommended nutrient intakes for key nutrients in {S}outh {A}frica. {T}his study seeks to provide insights into how aquatic foods can contribute to
