@article{fdi:010092944, title = {« {C}ourse contre la mouche » : un jeu de r{\^o}le pour apprendre et agir face {\`a} la mouche orientale des fruits au {S}{\'e}n{\'e}gal}, author = {{B}elmin, {R}. and {N}'{G}om, {A}. and {G}rechi, {I}. and {B}r{\'e}vault, {T}. and {R}ebaudo, {F}ran{\c{c}}ois}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{C}an a role-playing game help to find collective solutions for controlling crop pests? {T}his was the challenge tackled by a team of researchers in response to the invasion of the oriental fruit fly {B}actrocera dorsalis, a pest responsible for major crop losses and socioeconomic tensions in the {A}frican mango industry. {T}his article reports on the construction and initial feedback from the role-playing game '{R}ace {A}gainst the {F}ly', designed to better understand the behavior of economic actors in the face of this pest, and to stimulate learning and collective action. {T}he game features six mango growers and two buyers in a real race against time as the harvest approaches, to sell and buy their mangoes before they are bitten by flies. {I}t is based: (i) on a simulation model that quantifies the effect of agricultural practices on production and on the risk of fruit being infested by flies; (ii) on physical supports that embody the objects (orchards, mangoes, money) and ecological processes (fly population dynamics) with which players interact; and (iii) on an animation protocol that stimulates knowledge exchange and innovation between participants. {A} first prototype was deployed in {S}enegal in {J}une 2023. {T}he five game sessions carried out enabled us to test and improve the ergonomics of the game and its animation methods, to confirm the game's ability to reproduce and reveal the mechanisms by which the fly destabilizes the mango industry, and to generate collective learnings and innovations relating to risk management. {I}n the future, the game could be enriched with more ecological, organizational and social processes, and used as a tool for training, raising awareness and co-designing innovative control strategies against the oriental fruit fly.}, keywords = {{B}actrocera dorsalis ; innovation ; mango ; co-design ; serious game ; mango ; co-design ; serious game ; {SENEGAL}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}ahiers {A}gricultures}, volume = {34}, numero = {}, pages = {9 [14 p.]}, ISSN = {1166-7699}, year = {2025}, DOI = {10.1051/cagri/2025006}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010092944}, }
