@inproceedings{fdi:010091462, title = {{M}onitoring {S}enegalese small pelagic stocks : current state of the resource, variability and levels of exploitation [r{\'e}sum{\'e}]}, author = {{S}arr{\'e}, {A}. and {B}rehmer, {P}atrice}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}n {S}enegal, the coastal pelagic resources occupy a leading place in the landing and are mainly constituted by both sardinella species, horse mackerels, mackerels and ethmalosa. {O}n average, they represent about 70 to 80 % of the global annual catch. {T}he exploitation of these resources is mainly done by the small-scale fisheries. {T}he pelagic resources follow a migratory pattern in the {S}outh part of the {C}anary {C}urrent {L}arge {M}arine {E}cosystem area located between the {S}outh {S}enegal and {S}outh {M}orocco. {I}t is thus a shared fish resource and their management is made at a sub-regional level within the framework of the {W}orkgroup {F}ishery {C}ommittee for the {E}astern {C}entral {A}tlantic ({CECAF}) under the supervision of the {FAO}. {T}he current state of these resources in the light of our last annual acoustic assessment survey led in {J}anuary, 2015 on {S}enegalese continental shelf, on the framework of the {P}reface project is presented in this work as well as the historic series of the biomasses estimated by the {FRV} {F}ridtjof {N}ansen vessel in {S}enegal over the last twenty years. {A}ll the acoustics surveys carry out was completed with physical measurement with {CTD} probe (temperature and salinity profile) and sometimes {ADCP} (current). {A}t the sub-regional level, the last management measures delivered by the {W}orkgroup {CECAF} are presented and state an overexploitation of the main {S}enegalese stocks of small pelagics i.e. {S}ardinella, horse mackerels, mackerel, anchovy and ethmalosa, with the exception of the sardine, the biomasses of which are not significant in {S}enegal until now. {T}his work led independently by {S}enegal allow to discuss the effect of the departure of the last industrial foreign fisheries in 2012 which targeted small pelagics and also the potential effect of climate change as the 2015 survey complete the {N}ansen series, stopped in 2006, to get an 20 years overview.}, keywords = {{SENEGAL} ; {ATLANTIQUE} ; {MAROC} ; {CANARIES} {COURANT}}, numero = {}, pages = {33}, booktitle = {{PREFACE}-{PIRATA}-{CLIVAR} {T}ropical {A}tlantic {V}ariability {C}onference}, year = {2015}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010091462}, }
