@article{fdi:010091375, title = {{G}enetic and transcriptomic analysis of the {B}radyrhizobium {T}3{SS}-triggered nodulation in the legume {A}eschynomene evenia}, author = {{C}amuel, {A}licia and {G}ully, {D}jamel and {P}ervent, {M}. and {T}eulet, {A}lbin and {N}ouwen, {N}ico and {A}rrighi, {J}ean-{F}ran{\c{c}}ois and {G}iraud, {E}ric}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{S}ome {B}radyrhizobium strains nodulate certain {A}eschynomene species independently of {N}od factors, but thanks to their type {III} secretion system ({T}3{SS}). {W}hile different {T}3 effectors triggering nodulation ({E}rn{A} and {S}up3) have been identified, the plant signalling pathways they activate remain unknown. {H}ere, we explored the intraspecies variability in {T}3{SS}-triggered nodulation within {A}eschynomene evenia and investigated transcriptomic responses that occur during this symbiosis. {F}urthermore, {B}radyrhizobium strains having different effector sets were tested on {A}. evenia mutants altered in various symbiotic signalling genes. {W}e identified the {A}. evenia accession {N}21/{PI} 225551 as appropriate for deciphering the {T}3{SS}-dependent process. {C}omparative transcriptomic analysis of {A}. evenia {N}21 roots inoculated with {ORS}3257 strain and its triangle ern{A} mutant revealed genes differentially expressed, including some involved in plant defences and auxin signalling. {I}n the other {A}. evenia accession {N}76, all tested strains nodulated the {A}e{CRK} mutant but not the {A}e{NIN} and {A}e{NSP}2 mutants, indicating a differential requirement of these genes for {T}3{SS}-dependent nodulation. {F}urthermore, the effects of {A}e{POLLUX}, {A}e{CC}a{MK} and {A}e{CYCLOPS} mutations differed between the strains. {N}otably, {ORS}86 nodulated these three mutant lines and required for this both {E}rn{A} and {S}up3. {T}aken together, these results shed light on how the {T}3{SS}-dependent nodulation process is achieved in legumes.}, keywords = {{A}eschynomene evenia ; effectors ; legume ; {N}od factor independent ; rhizobium ; signalling pathway ; symbiosis}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{N}ew {P}hytologist}, volume = {[{E}arly access]}, numero = {}, pages = {[14 ]}, ISSN = {0028-646{X}}, year = {2024}, DOI = {10.1111/nph.20139}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010091375}, }
