@article{fdi:010091331, title = {{S}eroprevalence study in humans and molecular detection in {R}hipicephalus sanguineus ticks of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus in {T}hailand}, author = {{V}illarroel, {P}. {M}. {S}. and {C}haiphongpachara, {T}. and {N}urtop, {E}. and {L}aojun, {S}. and {P}angpoo-nga, {T}. and {S}onghong, {T}. and {S}upungul, {D}. and {B}aronti, {C}{\'e}cile and {T}hirion, {L}aurence and {L}eaungwutiwong, {P}. and de {L}amballerie, {X}. and {M}iss{\'e}, {D}oroth{\'e}e and {W}ichit, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{S}evere fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus ({SFTSV}) is an emerging tick-borne virus with a mortality rate of up to 30%. {F}irst identified in {C}hina in 2009, it was later reported in other {A}sian countries, including {T}hailand in 2020. {SFTSV} has been detected in several tick species, including {R}hipicephalus sanguineus, known for infesting dogs. {W}e conducted a seroprevalence study of {SFTSV} in {B}angkok and {N}ong {K}hai, {T}hailand, by analyzing 1162 human samples collected between 2019 and 2023. {T}he testing method relied on {I}g{G} detection using {ELISA} and confirmed though a virus seroneutralization test. {T}he results indicated that out of the participants, 12 (1.1%) tested positive for anti-{SFTSV} {I}g{G} antibodies; however, none exhibited positive results in the seroneutralization assay. {A}dditionally, molecular detection of {SFTSV}, {C}rimean-{C}ongo hemorrhagic fever ({CCHF}), {C}oxiella spp., {B}artonella spp., and {R}ickettsia spp. was performed on 433 {R}h. sanguineus ticks collected from 49 dogs in 2023 in {C}hachoengsao {P}rovince, {T}hailand. {N}o evidence of these pathogens was found in ticks. {T}hese findings highlight the importance of exploring viral cross-reactivity. {F}urthermore, it is important to conduct additional studies to isolate {SFTSV} from animals and ticks in order to identify the potential transmission routes contributing to human and animal infections in {T}hailand.}, keywords = {{SFTSV} ; {R}hipicephalus sanguineus ; {T}hailand ; {S}eroprevalence ; {T}ick-borne diseases ; {THAILANDE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{S}cientific {R}eports - {N}ature}, volume = {14}, numero = {1}, pages = {13397 [7 p.]}, ISSN = {2045-2322}, year = {2024}, DOI = {10.1038/s41598-024-64242-x}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010091331}, }
