({S}tegomyia) albopictus, were collected between 2017 and 2019 in {C}ambodia. {T}heir mitochondrial {DNA} {COI} gene and 5.8{S}-{ITS}2 r{DNA} were sequenced for molecular characterization and genetic analysis as well as {W}olbachia presence/type. {I}n 2022, additional {S}tegomyia specimens were collected for {COI} sequencing and morphological characterization. {O}f the 86 {S}tegomyia specimens, 14 specimens had divergent {COI} and 5.8{S}-{ITS}2 sequences compared to other {S}tegomyia species, and were negative for the presence of {W}olbachia, unlike {A}e. albopictus specimens which carried w{A}lb{A} and/or w{A}lb{A} {B} types. {A}dditional trapping in 2022 resulted in the colletion of 11 specimens with similar divergent {COI} and 5.8{S}-{ITS}2 sequences. {S}equence blast results did not match these {COI} and 5.8{S}-{ITS}2 sequences, neither within {S}tegomyia taxa nor other organisms. {L}astly, after morphological examinations, specific characters were observed in adult mosquitoes and male genitalia, allowing the specimens to be described as a new {S}tegomyia species named {A}edes unalom {M}aquart & {H}ide, sp. nov. {T}his species lives in sympatry with other {S}tegomyia species such as {A}e. albopictus or {A}e. aegypti and does not carry {W}olbachia. {T}his new species should be considered as a potential arbovirus vector.}, keywords = {{A}edes albopictus ; {COI} ; 5.8{S}-{ITS}2 r{DNA} ; {W}olbachia ; {T}axonomy ; {CAMBODGE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {A}sia-{P}acific {E}ntomology}, volume = {27}, numero = {2}, pages = {102233 [14 p.]}, ISSN = {1226-8615}, year = {2024}, DOI = {10.1016/j.aspen.2024.102233}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010090731}, }
