@article{fdi:010090684, title = {{A} social acceptability scale : validation in the context of government measures to curb the {COVID}-19 pandemic in {S}enegal}, author = {{R}avalihasy, {A}ndrainolo and {F}aye, {A}. and {D}iallo, {A}. {I}. and {G}aye, {I}. and {R}idde, {V}al{\'e}ry}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}ntroduction: {I}n {M}arch 2020, the government of {S}enegal introduced a curfew, a ban on travel between regions, the closure of markets, and a ban on attending places of worship to contain the spread of the {COVID}-19 pandemic. {A}s part of research into the response to {COVID}-19, we developed a scale to measure the social acceptability of these measures. {M}ethods: {W}e used {S}ekhon 's theoretical framework of acceptability ({TFA}) to formulate the content of the scale items. {W}e assessed the homogeneity of the scale using {C}ronbach 's {A}lpha and average interitem correlations. {W}e measured the dimensional properties of the scale using rating scale models. {W}e tested the sensitivity of the scale to sociodemographic characteristics using mixed linear regressions and rating scale models. {R}esults: {T}he final scale consisted of seven items corresponding to the constructs of acceptability. {A}nalysis performed on data from 813 individuals showed that the scale has satisfactory statistical properties ({C}ronbach 's alpha > 0.8, {L}oevinger 's coefficient >0.3, intraclass correlation >0.4). {C}onclusion: {T}his scale was one of the first to test the {TFA}. {T}he small number of items was advantageous for use under challenging data collection contexts. {M}easuring the acceptability of public health interventions with this tool can help in their design and implementation.}, keywords = {{S}ocial acceptability ; {COVID}-19 ; {M}easurement tool development ; {S}enegal ; {G}overnment measures ; {SENEGAL}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}nnals of {E}pidemiology}, volume = {94}, numero = {}, pages = {49--63}, ISSN = {1047-2797}, year = {2024}, DOI = {10.1016/j.annepidem.2024.04.004}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010090684}, }
