@article{fdi:010090599, title = {{T}axonomic {I}nsights into {C}aulerpa ({B}ryopsidales, {C}hlorophyta) {S}pecies in {F}rench {P}olynesia : confirmation of 13 species and reinstatement of {C}. pickeringii {H}arvey & {B}ailey}, author = {{L}agourgue, {L}. and {S}auvage, {T}. and {Z}ubia, {M}. and {D}raisma, {S}. {G}. {A}. and {V}ieira, {C}. and {E}ngelen, {A}. and {P}ayri, {C}laude}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{C}aulerpa {J}.{V}. {L}amouroux is a genus of green macroalgae belonging to the family {C}aulerpaceae in the order {B}ryopsidales. {T}he genus comprises 104 currently accepted species, of which 51 have been recorded from {P}acific {I}slands. {A}mong these islands, {F}rench {P}olynesia is found in the middle of the {S}outh {P}acific {O}cean and includes five archipelagos (i.e., the {A}ustral, {G}ambier, {M}arquesas, {S}ociety, and {T}uamotu {I}slands) where seaweed inventories have reported a total of 16 {C}aulerpa species so far based on morphology. {H}ere, based on a sampling covering the five archipelagos of {F}rench {P}olynesia, we attempt to (i) verify the taxonomy of {C}aulerpa species present in these regions based on phylogeny, (ii) describe in more detail the specific diversity between the five archipelagos, and (iii) provide a morphological identification tool for these species. {W}e successfully obtained 134 new tuf{A} sequences for phylogenetic analyses, which corresponded to 13 species. {W}e propose to resurrect {C}. pickeringii {H}arvey & {B}ailey for representatives of {C}. webbiana var. pickeringii and classify it in the {C}aulerpa subgenus {A}raucarioideae. {W}e also transfer {C}. seuratii to {C}. pickeringii based on genetic results. {A} new morphological identification key is provided as well as an updated distribution of {C}aulerpa species across {F}rench {P}olynesia.}, keywords = {{A}raucarioideae ; biodiversity ; {C}. seuratii ; {C}. pickeringii ; {C}. holmesiana ; {DNA} barcoding ; macroalgae ; tuf{A} ; {POLYNESIE} {FRANCAISE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{D}iversity}, volume = {16}, numero = {4}, pages = {243 [18 p.]}, year = {2024}, DOI = {10.3390/d16040243}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010090599}, }
