@article{fdi:010089996, title = {{M}elghirimyces algeriensis gen. nov., sp. nov., a member of the family {T}hermoactinomycetaceae, isolated from a salt lake}, author = {{A}ddou, {A}. {N}. and {S}chumann, {P}. and {S}proer, {C}. and {H}acene, {H}. and {C}ayol, {J}. {L}. and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} novel filamentous bacterium, designated {N}ari{EX}({T}), was isolated from soil collected from {C}hott {M}elghir salt lake, which is located in the south-east of {A}lgeria. {T}he strain was an aerobic, halotolerant, thermotolerant, {G}ram-positive bacterium that was able to grow in {N}a{C}l concentrations up to 21 % (w/v), at 37-60 degrees {C} and at p{H} 5.0-9.5. {T}he major fatty acids were iso- and anteiso-{C}-15:0. {T}he {DNA} {G} + {C} content was 47.3 mol%. {T}he major menaquinone was {MK}-7, but {MK}-6 and {MK}-8 were also present. {T}he polar lipid profile consisted of phosphatidylglycerol, diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylmonomethylethanolamine (methyl-{PE}). {R}esults of molecular and phenotypic analysis led to the description of the strain as a new member of the family {T}hermoactinomycetaceae. {T}he isolate was distinct from members of recognized genera of this family by morphological, biochemical and chemotaxonomic characteristics. {S}train {N}ari{EX}({T}) showed 16{S} r{RNA} gene sequence similarities of 95.38 and 94.28% with the type strains of {D}esmospora activa and {K}roppenstedtia eburnea, respectively, but differed from both type strains in its sugars, polar lipids and in the presence of methyl-{PE}. {O}n the basis of physiological and phylogenetic data, strain {N}ari{EX}({T}) represents a novel species of a new genus of the family {T}hermoactinomycetaceae for which the name {M}elghirimyces algeriensis gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. {T}he type strain of {M}elghirimyces algeriensis, the type species of the genus, is {N}ari{EX}({T}) (={DSM} 45474({T})={CCUG} 59620({T})).}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {62}, numero = {{P}art 7}, pages = {1491--1498}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2012}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.028985-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010089996}, }
