@article{fdi:010089995, title = {{C}haracterization of {D}efluviitalea saccharophila gen. nov., sp. nov., a thermophilic bacterium isolated from an upflow anaerobic filter treating abattoir wastewaters, and proposal of {D}efluviitaleaceae fam. nov.}, author = {{J}abari, {L}. and {G}announ, {H}. and {C}ayol, {J}.{L}. and {H}amdi, {M}. and {F}auque, {G}. and {O}llivier, {B}ernard and {F}ardeau, {M}arie-{L}aure}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} novel thermophilio, anaerobic, {G}ram-stain-positive, terminal-spore-forming bacterium was isolated from an upflow anaerobic filter treating abattoir wastewaters in {T}unisia. {T}his strain, designated {LIND}6{LT}2({T}), grew at 40-60 degrees {C} (optimum 50-55 degrees {C}) and at p{H} 6.0-8.5 (optimum p{H} 7.0-7.5). {I}t did not require {N}a{C}l for growth, but tolerated it up to 2%. {S}ulfate, thiosulfate, elemental sulfur, sulfite, nitrate and nitrite were not used as electron acceptors. {G}rowth of {LIND}6{LT}2({T}) was inhibited by sulfite (2 m{M}). {S}train {LIND}6{LT}2({T}) used cellobiose, glucose, mannose, maltose, mannitol, sucrose and xylose as electron donors. {T}he main fermentation products from glucose metabolism were acetate, formate, butyrate and isobutyrate. {T}he predominant cellular fatty acids were {C}-16:0 (68.4 %) and {C}-14:0 (8.3 %). {T}he {G}+{C} content of the genomic {DNA} was 35.2 mol%. {O}n the basis of its phylogenetic and physiological properties, a new genus and species, {D}efluviitalea saccharophila gen. nov., sp. nov., are proposed to accommodate strain {LIND}6{LT}2({T}), placed in {D}efluviitaleaceae fam. nov. within the phylum {F}irmicutes, class {C}lostridia, order {C}lostridiales. {S}train {LIND}6{LT}2({T}) (={DSM} 226811 ={JCM} 16312({T})) is the type strain of {D}efluviitalea saccharophila, which itself is the type species of {D}efluviitalea.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {S}ystematic and {E}volutionary {M}icrobiology}, volume = {62}, numero = {{P}art 3}, pages = {550--555}, ISSN = {1466-5026}, year = {2012}, DOI = {10.1099/ijs.0.030700-0}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010089995}, }
