  abstract = {{T}his book presents a recollection of narratives and songs released between 2014 and 2023, on the island of {A}tauro ({E}ast {T}imor). {T}he oral tradition of {A}tauro's three groups ({M}anroni, {H}umangili, {A}dade) is brought together for the first time in a multilingual edition, combining the local languages ({D}adu'a and {R}asua, {H}resuk, {R}aklungu) and their translation in {T}etun. {T}his vast body of mythology recounts the origin of {A}tauro, pulled out of the sea by arrows, the songs gleaned from the sky, and many other tales that illustrate the exceptional culture of this small island. {T}he large original corpus is complemented by a series of 20 texts on different aspects of local culture, written by researchers from different disciplines (archaeology, ethno-botany, geography, anthropology, ethnomusicology, and eco-anthropology).{T}he book's originality lies in the collaboration between the {F}rench and {T}imorese researchers and the populations who validated and decided on the choice of texts, with the help of three native interpreters from each of the linguistic groups. {T}his book is therefore the result of a collective effort, supported by {ANR} (project {POPEI}-{C}oll '{P}olitiques culturelles, {P}atrimoines locaux et approches collaboratives dans l'est insulindien', {ANR} n°18-{CE}27-020) and encouraged by the state {S}ecretariat for {A}rt and {C}ulture in {T}imor {L}este.},
