@article{fdi:010089918, title = {{H}isteridae ({S}taphyliniformia : {C}oleoptera) from {B}razil : an overview}, author = {{L}eivas, {F}.{W}.{T}. and {D}e {L}ima {B}icho, {C}. and {D}egallier, {N}icolas}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{H}isterid beetles represent a group that has historically received little attention from entomologists, especially in {B}razil, which makes it difficult not only to understand biodiversity and its conservation, but also to develop research using these beetles in applied areas. {H}ere we present an overview of the biodiversity of {H}isteridae in {B}razil, focusing on the following information i) historical data and the current richness known for {B}razil, including a list of species; ii) the main authors who described the {H}isteridae biodiversity recorded in the {B}razilian territory, and in relevant entomological collections; iii) the literature to identify {H}isterids; iv) the known biological associations and collection methods; v) and the conservation of {B}razilian species; in addition, to proposing goals for future studies. {M}ost of the data presented comes from the {T}axonomic {C}atalog of the {B}razilian {F}auna ({TCBF}), part {H}isteridae, a {B}razilian initiative to generate knowledge about the faunal biodiversity present in the country. {O}ur data indicate that to date six subfamilies, 16 tribes, 132 genera, 607 species and one subspecies are known in {B}razil. {W}e believe that the development of taxonomic tools that contribute to the knowledge of biodiversity, as well as the increase in taxonomic revisions, constitute the guiding principle to boost research in {H}isteridae.}, keywords = {{BRESIL}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{Z}oologia}, volume = {41}, numero = {}, pages = {e24008 [24 ]}, ISSN = {1984-4689}, year = {2024}, DOI = {10.1590/{S}1984-4689.v41.e24008}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010089918}, }
