@article{fdi:010089738, title = {{A}nalytical solution for well water response to {E}arth tides in leaky aquifers with storage and compressibility in the aquitard : technical note}, author = {{V}alois, {R}. and {R}ivi{\`e}re, {A}. and {V}ouillamoz, {J}ean-{M}ichel and {R}au, {G}. {C}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}n recent years, there has been a growing interest in utilizing the groundwater response to {E}arth tides as a means of estimating subsurface properties. {H}owever, existing analytical models have been insufficient in accurately capturing realistic physical conditions. {T}his study presents a new analytical solution to calculate the groundwater response to {E}arth tide strains, including storage and compressibility of the aquitard, borehole storage, and skin effects. {W}e investigate the effects of aquifer and aquitard parameters on the well water response to {E}arth tides at two dominant frequencies ( {O}-1 and {M}-2 ) and compare our results with hydraulic parameters obtained from a pumping test. {I}nversion of the six hydro-geomechanical parameters from amplitude response and phase shift in both semi-diurnal and diurnal tides provides relevant information about aquifer transmissivity, storativity, well skin effect, aquitard hydraulic conductivity, and diffusivity. {T}he new model is able to reproduce previously unexplained observations of the amplitude and frequency responses. {W}e emphasize the usefulness in developing a relevant methodology to use the groundwater response to natural drivers in order to characterize hydrogeological systems.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{H}ydrology and {E}arth {S}ystem {S}ciences}, volume = {28}, numero = {4}, pages = {1041--1054}, ISSN = {1027-5606}, year = {2024}, DOI = {10.5194/hess-28-1041-2024}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010089738}, }
