@article{fdi:010088761, title = {{P}hylogenomic inference of the {A}frican tribe {M}onodoreae ({A}nnonaceae) and taxonomic revision of {D}ennettia, {U}variodendron and {U}variopsis}, author = {{D}agallier, {L}. {P}. {M}. {J}. and {M}bago, {F}. {M}. and {C}ouderc, {M}arie and {G}audeul, {M}. and {G}rall, {A}. and {L}oup, {C}. and {W}ieringa, {J}. {J}. and {S}onk{\'e}, {B}. and {C}ouvreur, {T}homas}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{M}onodoreae ({A}nnonaceae) is a tribe composed of 11 genera and 90 species restricted to the tropical {A}frican rain forests. {A}ll the genera are taxonomically well circumscribed except the species rich genera {U}variodendron and {U}variopsis which lack a recent tax-onomic revision. {H}ere, we used a robust phylogenomic approach, including all the 90 currently accepted species, with several specimens per species, and based on more than 300 {A}nnonaceae-specific nuclear genes, to infer the phylogenetic tree of the {M}ono- doreae and test the limits between the genera and species. {W}e recover all the genera as monophyletic, except the genus {U}variopsis for which the species {U}variopsis tripetala falls outside this clade. {W}e thus reinstate the monotypic genus {D}ennettia for its single species {D}ennettia tripetala. {W}e also erect a new tribe, {O}phrypetaleae trib. nov., to ac-commodate the genera {O}phrypetalum and {S}anrafaelia, as we recover them excluded from the {M}onodoreae tribe with good support. {B}elow the genus level, the genera {I}s-olona, {M}onodora, {U}variastrum, {U}variodendron and {U}variopsis show weakly supported nodes and phylogenetic conflicts, suggesting that population level processes of evo- lution might occur in these clades. {O}ur results also support, at the molecular level, the description of several new species of {U}variodendron and {U}variopsis, as well as several new synonymies. {F}inally, we present a taxonomic revision of the genera {D}ennettia, {U}vari-odendron and {U}variopsis, which contain one, 18 and 17 species respectively. {W}e provide key to the 11 genera of the {M}onodoraeae and describe four new species to science: {U}variodendron kimbozaense {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, sp. nov., {U}variodendron mossambi-cense {R}obson ex {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, sp. nov., {U}variodendron pilosicarpum {D}agallier {C}ouvreur, sp. nov. and {U}variopsis oligocarpa {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, sp. nov., and pro-vide provisional descriptions of three putatively new species. {W}e also present lecto-typifications and nomenclatural changes implying synonymies and new combinations ({U}variodendron citriodorum ({L}e {T}homas) {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, comb. et stat. nov., {U}vari- odendron fuscum var. magnificum ({V}erdc.) {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, comb. et stat. nov., {U}variopsis congensis var. angustifolia {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, var. nov., {U}variopsis guineen- var. globiflora ({K}eay) {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, comb. et stat. nov., and {U}variopsis solhei- var. letestui ({P}ellegr.) {D}agallier & {C}ouvreur, comb. et stat. nov.).}, keywords = {conservation ; evolution ; new species ; phylogeny ; tropical rain forests ; {AFRIQUE} ; {ZONE} {TROPICALE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{P}hytokeys}, numero = {233}, pages = {1--200}, ISSN = {1314-2011}, year = {2023}, DOI = {10.3897/phytokeys.233.103096}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010088761}, }
