@article{fdi:010088642, title = {{P}etrogenesis and geochemistry of {WNW}-{ESE} to {NW}-{SE} trending doleritic dykes of the {P}aleoproterozoic {L}iptako basement ({W}est {A}frican {C}raton, {W}est {N}iger)}, author = {{N}oura, {G}. {R}. and {A}hmed, {Y}. and {B}aratoux, {L}enka and {E}rnst, {R}. {E}. and {A}ttourabi, {S}. {A}. and {H}allarou, {M}. {M}. and {C}hamsi, {L}. {I}. and {M}oustapha, {S}. {C}. {M}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{D}oleritic dykes with regional orientations {WNW}-{ESE} to {NW}-{SE}, cut the {P}aleoproterozoic {B}irimian formations of the {L}iptako basement ({O}uest-{N}iger). {M}ineralogical compositions studied from these doleritic dykes consist of augite ({W}o21-40-{E}n24-45-{F}s13-54), pigeonite ({W}o8-12-{E}n45-59-{F}s31-41), plagioclase, alkali feldspars, titano-magnetite, ilmenite, edenite, apatite, biotite and chlorite. {T}he geochemical affinity of the doleritic dykes in the two trends is similar to oceanic plateau basalts ({OPB}), with high iron content relative to {M}g. {N}egative {N}b, {T}i and {T}a anomalies and the {Y}/{N}b ratio (1.59-3.15) indicate a continental tholeiitic character for while light rare earth element enrichment, low to moderate {T}i contents and the {T}h/{Y}b (0.28-0.59) and {N}b/{Y}b (3.25-7.46) ratios suggest sources similar to {E}-{MORB}. {T}heir {T}h/{N}b (0.06-0.10), {T}h/{Y}b (0.28-0.59), {T}i{O}2/{Y}b (0.54-0.82) ratios suggest that the magma was generated by partial melting (5-17%) of a residual spinel-garnet lherzolite, that could have been part of a mantle plume. {R}elatively low {M}g# (36-51) reflect some degrees of fractional crystallization, with some of this differentiation recorded between the margins and interiors of dykes. {T}his differentiation was accompanied by unusually low degrees of crustal contamination, as indicated by relatively low {T}h/{T}a ratios (1.18-2.03). {T}his petrological and geochemical information provides new constraints on the origin of these {WNW} to {NE} trending mafic dykes of the {W}est {A}frican {C}raton.}, keywords = {{P}etrogenesis ; {G}eochemistry ; {S}warms ; {D}oleritic dykes ; {L}arge igneous ; provinces ; {N}iger ; {NIGER}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {A}frican {E}arth {S}ciences}, volume = {208}, numero = {}, pages = {105096 [17 p.]}, ISSN = {1464-343{X}}, year = {2023}, DOI = {10.1016/j.jafrearsci.2023.105096}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010088642}, }
