@article{fdi:010088183, title = {{S}urface water quality in {A}mazonian {F}loodplain {L}akes, data set of the {L}ago {G}rande de {C}uruai {F}loodplain {L}ake, {P}ara-{B}razil [{D}ata paper, early access]}, author = {{R}oque, {D}. {D}. and {B}onnet, {M}arie-{P}aule and {G}arnier, {J}. and {N}unes, {C}. {K}. and {S}eyler, {P}atrick and {M}arques, {D}. {M}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{B}etween 2013 and 2017, we carried out nine field missions in the {L}ago {G}rande de {C}uruai floodplain, located in {P}ara state - {N}orth of {B}razil - to collect samples for monitoring surface water quality. {T}his site separated from the river by a narrow bank is composed of a network of channels and shallow lakes, a morphology shared by the floodplains of the lower {A}mazon. {A} multiparameter probe was used in situ to measure electrical conductivity, temperature, p{H}, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll, turbidity, depth and a {S}ecchi disk to estimate transparency. {W}ater grab samples were analysed for suspended material, alkalinity, humic acid, phosphorus, nitrogen, carbon and chlorophyll. {S}ampling stations were distributed over the seven larger lakes in the floodplain and sampled at different periods of the hydrological cycle. {T}he number of samples varied with the floodplain water level, with a minimum of 25 samples for each field visit. {T}his data set is a collection of water quality data to assist in the limnological or biogeochemical studies of surface waters in {A}mazonian floodplain lakes, and the product of successive {F}rench-{B}razilian projects: (1) the {C}lim-{FABIAM} '{C}limate changes and {F}loodplain lake biodiversity in the {A}mazon {B}asin: how to cope and help the ecological and economic sustainability' funded by the {F}rench {F}oundation for biodiversity research ({FRB}), (2) the project {B}loom-{ALERT} -'{E}nvironmental sensitivity and population health vulnerability to cyanobacteria in the {A}mazon: towards shared indicators' funded by the {F}rench-{B}razilian research program {GUYAMAZON} 2014, and the project (3) '{E}cossistemas das varzeas e biodiversidade: {I}mpactos das mudancas ambientais e climaticas considerando cenarios de desenvolvimento sustentaveis' ({P}roject number 490634/2013-3) funded by the {B}razilian {N}ational scientific {R}esearch {C}ouncil {CNP}q.}, keywords = {{A}mazon {R}iver ; floodplain ; water quality ; wetlands ; {BRESIL} ; {AMAZONE} ; {PARA}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{G}eoscience {D}ata {J}ournal}, numero = {}, pages = {[15 ]}, ISSN = {2049-6060}, year = {2023}, DOI = {10.1002/gdj3.207}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010088183}, }
