@article{fdi:010087780, title = {{D}atasets of high-resolution water level and discharge from the {S}aigon-{D}ong {N}ai estuary system impacted by a developing megacity, {H}o {C}hi {M}inh {C}ity-{V}ietnam}, author = {do {A}maral, {F}. {R}. and {T}rung, {T}. {N}. and {P}ellarin, {T}. and {G}ratiot, {N}icolas}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{W}e present a new hydrological dataset collected during a field campaign in the {S}aigon-{D}ong {N}ai estuary system, {V}iet-nam. {T}hese data include water level and water tempera-ture measurements at five locations along the {S}aigon river and 2 locations along the {D}ong {N}ai river as well as dis-charge measurements from four 24-hour {A}coustic {D}oppler {C}urrent {P}rofiler ({ADCP}) campaigns at 2 locations in the {S}aigon river and 1 location in the {D}ong {N}ai river. {A}ddition-ally, water level was barometrically compensated using air pressure measurements. {D}ata were sampled between {O}cto-ber 21st, 2022 and {D}ecember 16th, 2022 and are provided in three processing stages namely, direct measurements as provided by the sensors (raw), barometricaly compensated measurements (pre-processed) and corrected measurements (post-processed). {E}ven though of short duration (about 2 months), this dataset provides water level measurements at unprecedented spatial and temporal resolution in a re-gion where data is scarce and not freely available. {T}he syn-chronous logging of multiple water level sensors along river provides an opportunity to study profiles of water surface slope and upstream tidal propagation. {F}urthermore, the con-current discharge measurements can be used to calibrate hydrological and/or hydraulic models of this estuary system. {A}dditionally, the spatial resolution of this dataset is similar to the prospective measurements that the novel {S}urface {W}ater and {O}cean {T}opography ({SWOT}) satellite will provide. {T}hus, it enables the study of synthetic {SWOT} measurements to eval-uate the future potential of the {SWOT} satellite over this es-tuary system}, keywords = {{T}idal river ; {L}ow-cost installation ; {ADCP} ; {T}idal propagation in rivers ; {VIET} {NAM}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{D}ata in {B}rief}, volume = {48}, numero = {}, pages = {109147 [8 ]}, ISSN = {2352-3409}, year = {2023}, DOI = {10.1016/j.dib.2023.109147}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010087780}, }
