@article{fdi:010087773, title = {{D}iversity and phylogeny of the tick-borne bacterial genus {C}andidatus {A}llocryptoplasma ({A}naplasmataceae)}, author = {{O}uass, {S}. and {B}oulanger, {N}. and {L}elouvier, {B}. and {I}nsonere, {J}. {L}. {M}. and {L}acroux, {C}. and {K}rief, {S}. and {A}salu, {E}. and {R}ahola, {N}il and {D}uron, {O}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he family {A}naplasmataceae includes tick-borne bacteria of major public and veterinary health interest, as best illustrated by members of the genera {A}naplasma and {E}hrlichia. {R}ecent epidemiological surveys have also reported on the presence of a novel putative genus in the {A}naplasmataceae, {C}andidatus {A}llocryptoplasma, previously described as {C}andidatus {C}ryptoplasma in the western black-legged tick, {I}xodes pacificus. {H}owever, the genetic diversity of {C}a. {A}llocryptoplasma and its phylogenetic relationship with other {A}naplasmataceae remain unclear. {I}n this study, we developed a multi-locus sequence typing approach, examining the {DNA} sequence variation at five genes of {C}a. {A}llocryptoplasma found in ticks. {C}ombining this multi-locus sequence typing and genetic data available on public databases, we found that substantial genetic diversity of {C}a. {A}llocryptoplasma is present in {I}xodes, {A}mblyomma and {H}aemaphysalis spp. ticks on most continents. {F}urther analyses confirmed that the {C}a. {A}llocryptoplasma of ticks, the {C}a. {A}llocryptoplasma of lizards and some {A}naplasma-like bacteria of wild mice cluster into a monophyletic genus, divergent from all other genera of the family {A}naplasmataceae. {C}andidatus {A}llocryptoplasma appears as a sister genus of {A}naplasma and, with the genera {E}hrlichia and {N}eoehrlichia, they form a monophyletic subgroup of {A}naplasmataceae associated with tick-borne diseases. {T}he detection of genetically distinct {C}a. {A}llocryptoplasma in ticks of significant medical or veterinary interest supports the hypothesis that it is an emergent genus of tick-borne pathogens of general concern.}, keywords = {{A}naplasmataceae ; {A}naplasma ; {E}hrlichia ; {A}llocryptoplasma ; {T}ick ; {T}ick-borne diseases}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{P}arasite}, volume = {30}, numero = {}, pages = {13 [9 p.]}, ISSN = {1252-607{X}}, year = {2023}, DOI = {10.1051/parasite/2023014}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010087773}, }
