  abstract = {{O}bjectives: {T}o assess the psychometric properties of the {C}oronavirus {I}nformation {O}verload scale ({C}ov{IO}) and explore relationships between {C}ov{IO}, its predictors and several health behaviours related to the {COVID}-19 pandemic, using {C}ancer {I}nformation {O}verload ({CIO}) scale results as a reference for comparison.{M}ethods: 2003 participants representative of the {F}rench adult population answered a self-administered ques-tionnaire over two waves of polling ({N}1({J}une 2020)= 1003, {N}2({J}anuary 2021)= 1000). {R}espondents were randomized to fill {C}ov{IO} or {CIO} scale. {P}sychometric properties of scales were evaluated with {C}onfirmatory {F}actor {A}nalysis ({CFA}). {P}redictors were assessed using multivariate linear regression.{R}esults: {C}ov{IO} scale showed satisfactory psychometric properties (alpha=0.86, omega=0.86, {RMSEA}=0.050) without any measurement invariance issue. {C}ov{IO} increased between waves of sampling and was significantly linked to education, health literacy and trust in institutions among other variables. {A} negative relationship between in-formation overload and preventive behaviours was also observed. {C}onclusion: {T}he {C}ov{IO} scale is a valid tool for assessing {COVID}-19 information overload. {T}he dynamical for-mation of information overload and links with theorised predictors, especially, health literacy are confirmed.{P}ractice implications: {L}ongitudinal designs could help better understand the potential detrimental effect of in-formation overload and improving public health campaigns. {I}nterventions to reduce the degree of overload are needed.},
