  abstract = {{T}his paper analyzes {C}{\^o}te d'{I}voire's institutional response to the spread of {C}ovid-19 and explores the measures beyond political control, especially the impact of environmental variations, by comparing the {I}vorian case to other {W}est {A}frican countries, to deconstruct misconceptions about the propagation of {C}ovid-19 in {A}frica and suggests a rereading of {A}frica's place in the collective imaginaries, including at the scientific level.{T}he approach uses political science, which pays particular attention to national political trajectories in relation to institutional responses to the {C}ovid-19. {I}n the subtitle of his book, {A}merican political historian {P}eter {B}aldwin (2021) asks the question that runs through our contribution: '{W}hy has the fight against the coronavirus been so different around the world?' {O}ur approach to the problem, based on a broadly defined multifactorial one, attempts to refine the overly encompassing factors, putting each of the empirical factors into a national, or in {C}{\^o}te d'{I}voire's case, even a local context. {T}he lockdown imposed by the authorities on {A}bidjan ({C}{\^o}te d'{I}voire's capital) from {M}arch 26 to {J}uly 15, 2020, for example, was a major event in the country's response to the {C}ovid-19 pandemic. {T}he paper is borne out of our transdisciplinary research (in political science, sociology, climatology, meteorology, atmospheric physics, and oceanography) presented at the {W}est {A}frican {C}onsortium for {C}linical {R}esearch on {E}pidemics {P}athogens ({WAC}-{CREP}, 2022) international symposium in {M}arch 2022 in {Y}amoussoukro.},
