@article{fdi:010086675, title = {{C}haracterization of mitochondrial genome of {I}ndian {O}cean blue-spotted maskray, {N}eotrygon indica and its phylogenetic relationship within {D}asyatidae {F}amily}, author = {{P}avan-{K}umar, {A}. and {S}ingh, {S}. and {M}ishra, {A}. and {S}uman, {S}. and {G}ireesh-{B}abu, {P}. and {C}haudhari, {A}. and {S}hen, {K}. {N}. and {B}orsa, {P}hilippe}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he present study characterized complete mitochondrial genome of {B}lue-spotted maskray, {N}eotrygon indica and studied the evolutionary relationship of the species within the {D}asyatidae family. {T}he total length of the mitogenome was 17,974 bp including 37 genes and a non-coding control region. {T}he average frequency of nucleotides in protein-coding genes was {A}: 29.1 %, {T}: 30.2 %, {G}: 13.0 % and {C}: 27.7 % with {AT} content of 59.3 %. {T}he values of {AT} and {GC} skewness were -0.018 and -0.338, respectively. {C}omparative analyses showed a large number of average synonymous substitutions per synonymous site ({K}s) in gene {NADH}4 (5.07) followed by {NADH}5 (4.72). {H}igh values of average number of non-synonymous substitutions per non-synonymous site ({K}a) were observed in genes {ATP}ase8 (0.54) and {NADH}2 (0.44). {G}enes {NADH}4{L} and {NADH}2 showed high interspecific genetic distance values of 0.224 +/- 0.001 and 0.213 +/- 0.002, respectively. {H}eat map analysis showed variation in codon usage among different species of the {D}asyatidae family. {T}he phylogenetic tree showed a sister relationship between the {D}asyatinae and the {N}eotrygoninae subfamilies. {N}eotrygon indica formed as a sister species to the clade consisting of {N}. varidens and {N}. orientalis. {B}ased on the present results, {N}eotrygon indica could have diverged from the common ancestor of the two latter in the {P}lio-{P}leistocene. {T}he present study showed distinct characteristics of {N}. indica from its congeners through comparative mitogenomics.}, keywords = {{E}lasmobranchs ; {B}iogeography ; {P}hylogeny ; {M}itochondrial genome ; {C}odon bias ; {INDE} ; {OCEAN} {INDIEN}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {B}iological {M}acromolecules}, volume = {223}, numero = {{A}}, pages = {458--467}, ISSN = {0141-8130}, year = {2022}, DOI = {10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2022.10.277}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010086675}, }
