@article{fdi:010086306, title = {{U}sage des pesticides et impacts sur la sant{\'e} des applicateurs en zone cotonni{\`e}re du {M}ali}, author = {{L}e {B}ars, {M}arjorie and {S}issako, {A}. and {D}e {M}ontgolfier, {A}lban and {S}idibe, {Y}. and {D}iarra, {A}. and {S}agara, {A}. and {K}oita, {O}.}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{I}n {M}ali, the repertoire of pesticides used in agriculture is vast and studies of their impacts on health are rare. {R}esearch on the impacts of pesticides used in cotton, cereal and vegetable production on the health of the population was worthy of being carried out. {T}his study was carried out in three villages in the {K}ita district ({M}adina {M}alinke, {B}anfara and {T}oufinko). {S}ixty pesticides including 17 herbicides and 1 insecticide not registered by the {C}omite ouest-africain pour l'homologation des pesticides ({COAHP}) were identified. {T}he pesticides used on cotton are formulated from 20 active ingredients, 5 of which (25.5%) are banned in {E}urope. {P}esticides used on vegetables are formulated from 16 active ingredients, 5 of which are also banned in {E}urope (i.e., 31.25%), such as profenofos, bifenthrin and flubendiamide. {D}uring the medical follow-up of a cohort of 244 applicators, several signs of acute intoxications (cutaneous, oral, ocular, gastric) were observed on our three study sites during the spraying period, mainly with herbicides. {O}ral and inhalation intoxications were the most numerous, observed in 21.5% of applicators in {J}uly, coinciding with the peak of herbicide use in {M}adina {M}alinke. {T}oxicity and skin irritation were reported in 18.5% of applicators in {J}uly, corresponding to a peak of herbicide spraying in {B}anfara. {I}n the three villages, the quantities of herbicides used are higher than those of insecticides. {T}he use of insecticides based on banned active ingredients such as profenofos, bifenthrin and flubendiamide induces long-term risks of infertility, endocrine disruption and neurodegenerative diseases. {T}he follow-up of this cohort and the use of biomarkers will make it possible to study the link between the use of certain pesticides and the development of chronic diseases.}, keywords = {pesticides ; health ; cohort ; cotton zone ; {M}ali ; {MALI}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{C}ahiers {A}gricultures}, volume = {31}, numero = {}, pages = {24 [10 ]}, ISSN = {1166-7699}, year = {2022}, DOI = {10.1051/cagri/2022023}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010086306}, }
