@incollection{fdi:010086204, title = {{S}tatus of water quality and impact of dredging activities in four ports of the gulf of {A}igues {M}ortes ({F}rance)}, author = {{C}houba, {C}. and {D}elpoux, {S}. and {C}ausse, {L}. and {M}arie, {M}. and {F}reydier, {R}. and {T}oubiana, {M}. and {M}onfort, {P}. and {P}ringault, {O}livier and {M}ontigny, {C}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{C}oastal hydrosystems, located at the land-sea interface, are both subject to autochthonous sources of pollution but also form a receptacle for terrigenous inputs from upstream areas.{T}he {G}ulf of {A}igues {M}ortes ({GAM}) extends along the western margin of the {R}hone delta. {T}he marinas spread over this restricted geographical area present variable management problems depending on their size and location. {D}ue to silting and/or siltation phenomena, the situation is becoming increasingly difficult to manage to maintain the depths of most ports. {I}n these marinas that are not dredged regularly, the quantities of potentially contaminated sediments (organic and metallic micro-pollutants) to be extracted represent from a few thousand to several tens of thousands of m3 of sediments on the scale of each port. {F}our ports of the {GAM} have joined together to set up a mutualized dredging project based on the valorization of dredged sediments. {T}he objective of this work is to carry out a diagnosis of the chemical and microbiological contamination of the waters of the 4 ports located in the {G}ulf of {A}igues {M}ortes. {R}egular water sampling was done before, during and after dredging operations. {W}ater column quality/contamination was characterized by major physicochemical water parameters, trace metallic elements and organotin compounds. {I}n addition to chemical parameters, indicators of faecal contamination were also monitoring. {D}redging operations have induced the resuspension and/or readsorption on suspended matter of trace metal elements and organotin compounds in the water column. {A} significant increase in the concentrations of {A}s (enrichment factors ranging from 1.2 to 2.15 times the postdredging values) inducing exceedance of the {EQS} was observed. {T}he behavior of copper and zinc is different according to the ports studied and during dredging operations. {T}he resuspension of sediments, constituting both a sink and a source for (organo)metallic compounds, generated modifications of physico-chemical conditions and favoured increasing or decreasing of chemical elements concentrations observed in the dissolved fraction of the water column. {T}hese resuspensions are themselves related to the nature of the dredged sediments.}, keywords = {{FRANCE}}, booktitle = {{N}inth {I}nternational {S}ymposium "{M}onitoring of {M}editerranean coastal areas : problems and measurement techniques"}, numero = {}, pages = {416--425}, address = {{F}lorence}, publisher = {{F}irenze {U}niversity {P}ress}, series = {}, year = {2022}, DOI = {10.36253/979-12-215-0030-1.37}, ISBN = {979-12-215-0030-1 }, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010086204}, }
