Three main clades appear, corresponding to distinct geographical areas : Australia (Archontophoenix). Tasman Sea to New Zealand (Hedyscepe and Rhopalostryis) and New Caledonia (four genera). The New Caledonian clade exhibits the greatest morphological diversity and this group is in need of a reassessment at the generic level. %S Memoirs of the New York Botanical Garden %B Meeting on Evolution, Variation, and Classification of Palms %8 1997/06/18-20 %$ 076BOTA
