@article{fdi:010084363, title = {{Z}ika virus immunoglobulin {G} seroprevalence among young adults living with {HIV} or without {HIV} in {T}hailand from 1997 to 2017}, author = {{C}hoyrum, {S}. and {W}angsaeng, {N}. and {N}echba, {A}. and {S}alvadori, {N}. and {S}aisom, {R}. and {A}chalapong, {J}. and {P}utiyanun, {C}. and {S}absanong, {P}. and {S}angsawang, {S}. and {A}yudhaya, {O}. {P}. {N}. and {J}ourdain, {G}onzague and {N}go-{G}iang-{H}uong, {N}icole and {K}hamduang, {W}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{Z}ika virus ({ZIKV}) epidemiological data in {T}hailand are limited. {W}e assessed {ZIKV} {I}g{G} seroprevalence among young adults during 1997-2017 and determined factors associated with {ZIKV} {I}g{G} seropositivity. {T}his retrospective laboratory study included randomly selected subjects aged 18-25 years participating in large clinical studies conducted in {T}hailand during 1997-2017. {S}tored plasma samples were analyzed for {ZIKV} {I}g{G} using an {ELISA} test ({A}nti-{Z}ika {V}irus {I}g{G}, {EUROIMMUN}, {L}ubeck, {G}ermany). {S}ociodemographic, clinical and laboratory data were used in univariable and multivariable analyses to identify factors associated with {ZIKV} {I}g{G} positivity. {O}f the 1648 subjects included, 1259 were pregnant women, 844 were living with {HIV} and 111 were living with {HBV}. {ZIKV} {I}g{G} seroprevalence was similar among the {HIV}-infected and -uninfected pregnant women (22.8% vs. 25.8%, p-value = 0.335) and was overall stable among the pregnant women, with a 25.2% prevalence. {F}actors independently associated with {ZIKV} {I}g{G} positivity included an age of 23-25 years as compared to 18-20 years, an {HIV} {RNA} load below 3.88 log(10) copies/m{L} and birth in regions outside northern {T}hailand. {O}ur study shows that a large proportion of the population in {T}hailand probably remains susceptible to {ZIKV} infection, which could be the ground for future outbreaks. {C}ontinued surveillance of {ZIKV} spread in {T}hailand is needed to inform public health policies.}, keywords = {{Z}ika virus ; epidemiology ; {I}g{G} ; seroprevalence ; {T}hailand ; {HIV} ; pregnant ; women ; {THAILANDE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{V}iruses}, volume = {14}, numero = {2}, pages = {368 [13 p.]}, year = {2022}, DOI = {10.3390/v14020368}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010084363}, }
