@article{fdi:010083948, title = {{L}arge-scale infectious disease testing programs have little consideration for equity : findings from a scoping review}, author = {{O}st, {K}. and {D}uquesne, {L}. and {D}uguay, {C}. and {T}raverson, {L}ola and {M}athevet, {I}. and {R}idde, {V}al{\'e}ry and {Z}inszer, {K}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{O}bjective: {T}his scoping review aimed to identify how equity has been considered in large-scale infectious disease testing initiatives. {S}tudy {D}esign and {S}etting: {L}arge-scale testing interventions are instrumental for infectious disease control and a central tool for the coronavirus 19 ({COVID}-19) pandemic. {W}e searched {W}eb of {S}cience: core collection, {E}mbase and {M}edline in {J}une 2021 and followed the {P}referred {R}eporting {I}tems for {S}ystematic {R}eviews and {M}eta-{A}nalyses recommendations for scoping reviews. {W}e critically analyzed the content of all included articles. {R}esults: {O}ur search resulted in 2448 studies of which 86 were included for data extraction after screening. {O}f the included articles, 80% reported on {COVID}-19 -related screening programs. {N}one of the studies presented a formal definition of (in)equity in testing, however, 71 articles did indirectly include elements of equity through the justification of their target population. {O}f these 71 studies, 58% articles indirectly alluded to health equity according to the {PROGRESS}-{P}lus framework, an acronym used to identify a list of socially stratifying characteristics driving inequity in health outcomes. {C}onclusion: {T}he studies included in our scoping review did not explicitly consider equity in their design or evaluation which is imperative for the success of infectious disease testing programs.}, keywords = {{S}coping review ; {COVID}-19 ; {E}quity ; {I}nequity ; {T}esting programs ; {HIV} ; {E}bola ; {PROGRESS}-{P}lus framework ; {TID}ie{R}-{PHP} ; {MONDE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {C}linical {E}pidemiology}, volume = {143}, numero = {}, pages = {30--60}, ISSN = {0895-4356}, year = {2022}, DOI = {10.1016/j.jclinepi.2021.11.030}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010083948}, }
