@article{fdi:010083741, title = {{T}he largest endemic genus in {N}ew {C}aledonia grows : three new species of {P}ycnandra ({S}apotaceae) restricted to ultramafic substrate with updated subgeneric keys}, author = {{S}wenson, {U}. and {M}unzinger, {J}{\'e}r{\^o}me and {N}ylinder, {S}. and {G}ateble, {G}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{P}ycnandra {B}enth., a member of subfamily {C}hrysophylloideae ({S}apotaceae), is the largest endemic genus in {N}ew {C}aledonia and is subdivided into six subgenera. {I}t circumscribes 59 species, plus an additional three described here, and nine additional species that remain undescribed for various reasons. {W}e here use nr{DNA} data of {ETS}, {ITS}, and {RPB}2, analyse it within a {B}ayesian framework using {BEAST}, and place the new species in their respective subgenera. {P}ycnandra perplexa {S}wenson & {G}ateble is placed in subgenus {A}chradotypus and given a preliminary {IUCN} {R}ed {L}ist assessment of {N}ear {T}hreatened ({NT}). {I}t is confined to the ultramafic massif of southern {G}rande {T}erre and separated from the similar species {P}. griseosepala {V}ink, which is confined to non-ultramafic mountains north of the large southern ultramafic plateau. {P}ycnandra kopetoensis {M}unzinger & {S}wenson and {P}. margueriteae {M}unzinger & {S}wenson are two new micro-endemic species known only from their type localities, where habitats have been destroyed by deforestation, deliberate fires and mining activities. {P}ycnandra kopetoensis is named after {M}ount {K}opeto, placed in subgenus {L}eptostylis, and given a preliminary assessment as {C}ritically {E}ndangered ({CR}). {P}ycnandra margueriteae is from a small remnant forest near {B}ourail and categorised as {C}ritically {E}ndangered ({CR}). {R}evised identification keys for subgenus {A}chradotypus, {L}eptostylis and {P}ycnandra are provided.}, keywords = {{BEAST} ; micro-endemic ; nr{DNA} ; {N}agoya {P}rotocol ; phylogeny ; {R}ed {L}ist ; assessments ; {NOUVELLE} {CALEDONIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{A}ustralian {S}ystematic {B}otany}, volume = {34}, numero = {5}, pages = {510--525}, ISSN = {1030-1887}, year = {2021}, DOI = {10.1071/sb21006}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010083741}, }
