@article{fdi:010083636, title = {{T}rend of {T}emephos resistance in {A}edes ({S}tegomyia) mosquitoes in {T}hailand during 2003-2005}, author = {{J}irakanjanakit, {N}. and {S}aengtharatip, {S}. and {R}ongnoparut, {P}. and {D}uchon, {S}t{\'e}phane and {B}ellec, {C}hristian and {Y}oksan, {S}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he diagnostic dose for temephos susceptibility test was established based on {A}edes aegypti, the susceptible {B}ora ({F}rench {P}olynesia) strain, for practical and routine use. {T}he diagnostic dose was subsequently used to evaluate the susceptibility/ resistance status in {F}l progenies of field-collected samples from {B}angkok and various parts of {T}hailand. {I}t appeared that {A}e. aegypti mosquitoes of one collection site each in {B}angkok, {N}akhon {S}awan (northcentral), and {N}akhon {R}atchasrima (northeast) were resistant to temephos, with mortality ranging from 50.5 to 71.4%. {M}oreover, there was a trend of resistance to temephos among {A}e. aegypti populations of all studied districts of {N}akorn {R}atchasima and most areas of {N}akhon {S}awan, of which those in one area were susceptible. {H}owever, various levels of temephos susceptibility were found in {B}angkok populations, including resistance and incipient resistance. {I}n {C}honburi {P}rovince (eastern), all mosquitoes were susceptible to temephos with an indication of tolerance in one sample. {A}dditionally, mosquitoes from {S}ongkhla (south), {C}hiang {R}ai (north), {K}anchanaburi (west), and {C}hanthaburi (east) remained susceptible to temephos during the sample collecting period. {B}ioassay tests on {A}edes albopictus populations collected in this study from {N}akhon {S}awan, {N}akorn {R}atchasima, {S}ongkhla, and {K}anchanaburi revealed high susceptibility to temephos. {A}lthough the use of temephos seems to be potentially effective in many areas of the country, a noticeable trend of resistance indicated that alternative vector control methods should be periodically applied.}, keywords = {temephos ; diagnostic dose ; resistance ; {A}edes {S}tegomyia ; {T}hailand ; {THAILANDE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{E}nvironmental {E}ntomology}, volume = {36}, numero = {3}, pages = {506--511}, ISSN = {0046-225{X}}, year = {2007}, DOI = {10.1603/0046-225{X}(2007)36[506:{TOTRIA}]2.0.{CO};2}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010083636}, }
