@article{fdi:010083402, title = {{T}he response of rice varieties to {M}eloidogyne graminicola from the {M}ekong {D}elta, {V}ietnam}, author = {{N}guye, {P}. {V}. and {T}ran, {T}. {B}. and {N}guyen, {P}. {T}. and {N}guyen, {L}. {N}. {T}. and {B}ien, {T}. {L}. {T}. and {T}on, {L}. {B}. and {L}e, {T}. {T}. {H}. and {T}on, {A}. {T}. and {N}guyen, {Q}. {C}. {B}. and {H}uynh, {B}. {V}. and {L}e, {D}. {D}. and {B}ellafiore, {S}t{\'e}phane}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he rice root-knot nematode, {M}eloidogyne graminicola, is a serious pathogen of rice production worldwide. {I}n {V}ietnam, scientific information on the rice root-knot nematode is limited. {I}n this circumstance, our study aimed to investigate the characteristics of {M}. graminicola from rice fields in southern {V}ietnam and to evaluate the reaction of 20 rice varieties to this soil-borne pathogen in a glasshouse experiment. {T}en populations of root-knot nematode collected from rice fields at different geographical regions in the {M}ekong {D}elta were identified as {M}. graminicola based on the perineal configuration of females and species-specific molecular markers. {T}he morphological, morphometric and molecular characteristics of ten nematode isolates were defined, and the variations observed between these isolates were not significantly different. {T}he pathogenicity of these isolates was examined in the susceptible {I}ndica rice, {O}ryza sativa '{IR}64', with a reproduction factor ranging from 18.1 to 37.8. {O}f the 20 {I}ndica rice varieties tested in response to the nematode population {MG}-{PN}08, the '{T}etep' variety showed moderate resistance to the nematode (reproductive factor = 11.7; galling index = 2.4), while others were ranked at levels ranging from moderately susceptible to highly susceptible. {T}he life cycle of {M}. graminicola in '{T}etep' root is 28 days compared to 21 in '{IR}64' ,{T}etep-nematode interaction at the histological and molecular levels needs further investigation to develop new rice varieties resistant to rice root-knot nematode.}, keywords = {{I}ndica rice ; '{IR}64' ; {O}ryza sativa ; pathogenicity ; resistance ; '{T}etep' ; {VIET} {NAM} ; {MEKONG} {DELTA}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{N}ematology}, volume = {23}, numero = {10}, pages = {1153--1170}, ISSN = {1388-5545}, year = {2021}, DOI = {10.1163/15685411-bja10102}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010083402}, }
