@article{fdi:010082657, title = {{H}eterogeneity of volatile sources along the {H}almahera arc, {I}ndonesia}, author = {{B}ani, {P}hilipson and {N}auret, {F}. and {O}ppenheimer, {C}. and {A}iuppa, {A}. and {S}aing, {B}. {U}. and {H}aerani, {N}. and {A}lfianti, {H}. and {M}arlia, {M}. and {T}sanev, {V}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{T}he parallel {H}almahera and {S}angihe arcs in eastern {I}ndonesia are sites of active arc-arc collision of considerable interest in developing understanding of the geodynamics and geochemistry of subduction zones. {O}wing to the comparative remoteness of the region, few ground-based studies of the volcanoes have been undertaken. {H}ere, we report and integrate gas measurements and (isotope) geochemical analyses of lava samples for {D}ukono, {I}bu, {G}amkonora, {G}amalama, and {M}akian volcanoes of the {H}almahera arc. {S}umming gas fluxes for all five volcanoes indicates arc-scale emission budgets for {H}2{O}, {CO}2, {SO}2, {H}2{S}, and {H}2 of 96,300 +/- 27,000, 2093 +/- 450, 944 +/- 400, 79 +/- 20, and 15 +/- 4 {M}g/d, respectively. {D}ukono is the greatest source of {SO}2 and {H}2, while {I}bu emits the most {H}2{O} and {H}2{S}. {B}oth {G}amalama and {I}bu are significant {CO}2 sources. {D}ukono (farthest from the trench) releases the most {CO}2-poor gas. {G}eochemical and isotopic analyses of recent ejecta emphasize the role of high fluid fluxes in the mantle wedge, necessary for partial melting of depleted mantle. {P}b, {N}d, and {S}r isotope ratios, combined with {B}a/{N}d, {Z}r/{N}d, {B}a/{T}h, and {Z}r/{N}b ratios, provide evidence for compositional variability along the {H}almahera arc, and indicate decreasing subducted sediment contribution from south ({M}akian, {G}amalama) to north ({G}amkonora, {I}bu, {D}ukono). {A}dditionally, fluids formed by dehydration of altered crust become prominent at the northern volcanoes. {I}sotopic and {B}a/{N}b ratios from the {N}eogene and {Q}uaternary sources compared to the current magmas further emphasize the evolution of magma genesis since the {N}eogene.}, keywords = {{H}almahera volcanoes ; {A}rc-scale degassing budget ; {S}ediment contribution and fluid flux ; {V}ariability of arc magma ; {INDONESIE} ; {HALMAHERA} {VOLCAN}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {V}olcanology and {G}eothermal {R}esearch}, volume = {418}, numero = {}, pages = {107342 [12 ]}, ISSN = {0377-0273}, year = {2021}, DOI = {10.1016/j.jvolgeores.2021.107342}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010082657}, }
