  abstract = {{N}ew data on the taxonomic composition and distribution of rare deep-sea species of the {B}athylagidae, {M}icrostomatidae, and {O}pisthoproctidae ({A}rgentiniformes) collected off northeastern {B}razil, including the {R}ocas {A}toll, the {F}ernando de {N}oronha {A}rchipelago, and seamounts off {R}io {G}rande do {N}orte {S}tate are provided. {C}ollections were made by the {F}rench {RV} {A}ntea during the {ABRACOS} 2 ({A}coustics along the {BRA}zilian {CO}a{S}t) expedition, between {A}pril 9 and {M}ay 6, 2017. {A}mong the six species of argentiniforms identified, three are reported for the first time in {B}razilian waters: {X}enophthalmichthys danae ({M}icrostomatidae), {O}pisthoproctus soleatus and {R}hynchohyalus natalensis ({O}pisthoproctidae). {T}hree additional species previously recorded off {B}razil have their geographic distributions extended to the northeastern region of the country: {D}olicholagus longirostris, {M}elanolagus bericoides ({B}athylagidae), and {W}interia telescopa ({O}pisthoproctidae). {R}emarks on other species of the {A}rgentiniformes reported in the {B}razilian {E}xclusive {E}conomic {Z}one are also provided. {A} total of 11 genera and 14 species of the order are confirmed to occur in the region.},
