@article{fdi:010080599, title = {{E}ffects of companion crops and tillage on soil phosphorus in a {B}razilian oxisol : a chemical and {P}-31 {NMR} spectroscopy study}, author = {{E}berhardt, {D}. and {M}archao, {R}. and {Q}uiquampoix, {H}. and {L}e {G}uerneve, {C}. and {R}amaroson, {V}. and {S}auvadet, {M}arie and {M}uraoka, {T}. and {B}ecquer, {T}hierry}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{P}urpose {P}hosphorus ({P}) is often the main limiting factor for plant growth in highly weathered tropical soils. {P}hosphate use efficiency and crop yields could be increased in low-input agroecosystems through cropping systems that favor organic matter accumulation or regular additions of composts and manure. {O}ur objective was to determine the amounts and forms of {P} according to companion crops ({B}rachiaria ruziziensis-a grass species-or {C}ajanus cajan-a leguminous species) and tillage systems (conventional or no-tillage). {M}aterials and methods {S}oil {P} pools were determined ({P}-resin, {P}-{O}lsen, {PN}a{OH}-{EDTA}, and {P}-total) and {P} species were characterized by {P}-31 {NMR} spectroscopy. {R}esults and discussion {T}he concentrations of available and labile inorganic {P} ({P}-resin, {P}i({O}lsen), and {P}i({N}a{OH}-{EDTA})) were greater in soil samples where companion crops ({B}rachiaria ruziziensis or {C}ajanus cajan) and maize were planted on the same row, with a more significant effect with the legume species. {A}ccording to the {P}-31 {NMR}, it is mostly the proportion and amount of {P}-{O}rthophosphate that was increased, with a slight increase of the content of {P}-{M}onoester. {O}verall, there was a decrease of the proportion of organic {P} ({P}o-{NMR}/{P}-{NMR}) from 32 to 16% when the legume companion crop was associated with maize. {C}onclusions {T}he tillage systems did not lead to any change in the amounts and forms of {P}. {C}ompanion crops are thought to increase available {P} through mineralization of {P}o from plant residues and soil organic matter, leading to an increase of fluxes between active {P} pools.}, keywords = {{P}-31 {NMR} ; {C}over crops ; {C}onservation agriculture ; {P}hosphorus cycling ; {O}rganic phosphorus ; {BRESIL} ; {MINAS} {GERAIS} {ETAT} ; {ZONE} {TROPICALE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{J}ournal of {S}oils and {S}ediments}, volume = {21}, numero = {2}, pages = {1024--1037}, ISSN = {1439-0108}, year = {2021}, DOI = {10.1007/s11368-020-02817-7}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010080599}, }
