@article{fdi:010079630, title = {{A}rbuscular mycorrhizae in {M}alagasy cropping systems}, author = {{R}asoamampionona, {B}. and {R}abeharisoa, {L}. and {A}ndrianjaka, {A}. and {D}uponnois, {R}obin and {P}lenchette, {C}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{I}n {M}adagascar, rice production is low (2 t ha(-1)) and does not cover the needs of the population. {T}o satisfy the food requirements, there is a need to develop agriculture on highland areas called "tanety". {S}oils of tanety have low nutrients availability, particularly phosphorus which is the main plant growth limiting factor (soil solution < 0.1 mg {P} l(-1)). {A}rbuscular mycorrhizal ({AM}) symbiosis is widely recognized to have high significance for tropical agriculture, particularly for plant {P} nutrition. {T}he mycorrhizal status of some wild and cultivated plants was determined. {R}oots were sampled in two locations: the highlands and in the cliff-east. {AM} development (internal vesicles and hyphae) was estimated by microscopic examination. {F}or the first time several native plants from {M}adagascar were reported as forming arbuscular mycorrhizae. {C}rop plants from the highlands were less colonized by {AM} fungi than wild species, whereas cultivated and wild plants from fallows areas were highly colonized by {AM} fungi. {I}n highlands, for a long time, dry plants were burnt in furrows to release mineral nutrients. {T}his practice is suspected to have decreased {AM} fungi population. {F}our {AM} fungi were isolated from colonized roots. {T}wo of them were identified as {G}. fasciculatum. {T}hey were successfully propagated on leek growing on red pouzzolane. {T}he efficiency of these isolates was tested in comparison with a strain of {G}lomus intraradices and found to be more efficient.}, keywords = {}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{B}iological {A}griculture and {H}orticulture}, volume = {25}, numero = {4}, pages = {327--337}, ISSN = {0144-8765}, year = {2008}, DOI = {10.1080/01448765.2008.9755059}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010079630}, }
