  abstract = {{T}he climbing genus {V}entilago {G}aertn. ({R}hamnaceae) is revised in {N}ew {C}aledonia and {V}anuatu. {T}he description of {V}. pseudcalyculata {G}uillaumin was based on four gatherings (syntypes). {T}he name is lectotypified with a specimen from {L}ifou, and the species is now considered to be restricted to the {L}oyalty {I}slands, while the specimens from {G}rande {T}erre (the main island of {N}ew {C}aledonia) are treated as a new species, {V}. tinctoria {C}ahen, {T}oussirot & {P}illon. {A} total of four endemic species are therefore recognized in {N}ew {C}aledonia: {V}. buxoides {B}ail., {V}. neocaledonica {S}chltr. and {V}. tinctoria from {G}rande {T}erre and {V}. pseudocalyculata from the {L}oyalty {I}slands. {T}he plants from {V}anuatu, often identified as {V}. neocaledonica, are treated here as a new species, {V}. vanuatuana {C}ahen, {T}oussirot & {P}illon, endemic to that archipelago.},
