%X To deal with the growing complexity of water resources systems in Guadeloupe, particularly in relation to irrigation, and the hight space-time variability of rainfall, ORSTOM has developed a computer program to provide decision-making support in water resources management. One of the original features of the proposed software is the possibility of constructing water systems interactively to easily assess the results of future development alternatives. Based on a comparison of needs and resources, this tool can be used to simulate the hydrological behaviour of the water system and provides an overall analysis of the results. Due to the choice of an object-oriented software construction, all extensions which are necessary to an effective water resources management can be considered.
