@article{fdi:010078220, title = {{I}nfluence of climate changes on carbon accumulation in high {A}ndean peatlands during the last 2 500 years}, author = {{H}uaman, {Y}. and {M}oreira {T}urcq, {P}atricia and {E}spinoza, {R}. and {L}lanos, {R}. and {A}paestegui, {J}. and {T}urcq, {B}runo and {W}illems, {B}.}, editor = {}, language = {{SPA}}, abstract = {{H}igh-altitude cushion peatlands contain important records for high-resolution palaeoenvironmental studies, due to their high carbon accumulation rates and sensitivity to climatic changes. {I}n this study, we present the paleoenvironmental history for the last 2 500 years based on the study of {APA}01 core, located in the headwaters of the {C}achi river basin in {A}yacucho. {R}adiocarbon dating by an accelerator mass spectroscopy ({AMS}) and by an elemental {PDZ} {E}uropa {ANCA}-{GSL} analyzer to estimate particulated organic carbon were determined. {O}ur results reveal changes in the peatlands during the {L}ate {H}olocene. {T}he palaeo climate varied significantly during the last 2 500 years. {D}uring the {M}edieval {C}limatic {A}nomaly ({ACM}) from around 1040 {DC} ({B}efore {C}hrist - {BC}, in spanish paper) to 1300 {DC}, the drier climate caused a slowdown in peat accumulation due to a reduced water table inducing a reduced organic matter production with a negative peak of carbon concentration. {A}t the end of the {S}mall {I}ce {A}ge ({PEH}), between 1600 {DC} and 1890 {DC}, carbon accumulation showed high variability. {S}ubsequently, the peat environment is mainly characterized by a considerable increase of carbon accumulation rates due to high sedimentation rates that is possibly related to the retreat of glaciers in the {C}entral {A}ndes. {T}he recent drastic increase in the sedimentation rate and the reduction of carbon concentrations are a warning of a possible future decline of these ecosystems.}, keywords = {{A}ndes ; carbon ; accumulation rates ; peatlands ; paleoclimate ; {PEROU} ; {ANDES} ; {CORDILLERA} {CENTRAL}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{E}cologia {A}plicada}, volume = {19}, numero = {1}, pages = {35--41}, ISSN = {1726-2216}, year = {2020}, DOI = {10.21704/rea.v19i1.1444}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010078220}, }
