  abstract = {{T}he mesoniviruses ({MESOV}s) belong to the newly described {M}esoniviridae family ({O}rder: {N}idovirales). {T}hey have never been reported in {S}enegal until recently during a study in arbovirus emergence with the detection of a new species of {MESOV} named {D}ianke virus ({DKV}) from common mosquitoes from eastern {S}enegal. {A}ctually, their vector competence for this newly described {DKV} is unknown. {W}e, therefore, estimated the vector competence of {C}ulex tritaeniorhynchus, {C}ulex quinquefasciatus, {A}edes aegypti, and {A}nopheles gambiae mosquitoes collected in {S}enegal for {DKV} using oral infection. {W}hole bodies, legs/wings, and saliva samples were tested for {DKV} by {RT}-{PCR} to estimate infection, dissemination, and transmission rates. {T}he infectivity of virus particles in the saliva was confirmed by infecting {C}6/36 cells. {V}irus transmission rates were up to 95.45% in {C}ulex tritaeniorhynchus, 28% in {C}x. quinquefasciatus and 9.09% in {A}edes aegypti. {V}iral particles in the saliva were confirmed infectious by {C}6/36 cell culture. {A}n. gambiae was able to disseminate {DKV} only at 20 days post-infection. {T}his study shows that {C}ulex mosquitoes are more competent than {A}e. aegypti for {DKV}, while {A}nopheles gambiae is not likely a competent vector.},
