@article{fdi:010077947, title = {{M}olecular phylogeny and taxonomic synopsis of the angraecoid genus {Y}psilopus ({O}rchidaceae, {V}andeae)}, author = {{D}'{H}aij{\`e}re, {T}. and {M}ardulyn, {P}. and {D}ong, {L}. and {P}lunkett, {G}. {M}. and {S}imo-{D}roissart, {M}. and {D}roissart, {V}incent and {S}t{\'e}vart, {T}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{P}revious phylogenetic analyses focused on angraecoid orchids suggested that the genus {Y}psilopus was paraphyletic and that some species of {T}ridactyle and {R}angaeris belong to a clade that included {Y}psilopus. {T}hese studies, based on three to four genes, sampled few taxa in each genus, and did not include the type of {R}angaeris, nor did they take morphological variation into account. {T}o delineate {Y}psilopus more precisely, we reconstructed phylogenetic relationships of the genus and seven other closely related genera by analysing sequence variation at the nuclear ribosomal internal transcribed spacer ({ITS}-1) and at five plastid markers (mat{K}, rps16, trn{C}-pet{N} intergenic spacer, trn{L}-trn{F} intergenic spacer, ycf1), from 42 specimens representing 36 taxa. {T}rees based on maximum likelihood and {B}ayesian inference confirm that two species of {T}ridactyle are nested with three {Y}psilopus species, including the type of the latter, and two species of {R}angaeris are grouped with this clade. {M}oreover, we examined morphological variation among all species belonging to these three genera, highlighting morphological features that characterize {Y}psilopus, and we used these data to assign the two species of {T}ridactyle included in the molecular analyses, three other species of {T}ridactyle not included in the molecular analyses and two species of {R}angaeris to {Y}psilopus. {N}ew combinations for {T}ridactyle citrina, {T}. furcistipes, {T}. sarcodantha, {T}. tanneri, {T}. tricuspis, {R}angaeris amaniensis and {R}. schliebenii in {Y}psilopus are thus proposed, and one new section (i.e., {Y}psilopus sect. {B}arombiella) is described. {K}eys to the species of {Y}psilopus and closely related genera are provided, along with a table of characters that can be used to differentiate these species.}, keywords = {{E}ast {A}frica ; {E}pidendroideae ; generic recombination ; molecular phylogeny ; morphology ; {O}rchidaceae ; {AFRIQUE} {DE} {L}'{EST} ; {SAO} {TOME} {E} {PRINCIPE} ; {GUINEE} {BISSAU} ; {GUINEE} ; {LIBERIA} ; {COTE} {D}'{IVOIRE} ; {CAMEROUN} ; {RIO} {MUNI} ; {GUINEE} {EQUATORIALE} ; {GABON} ; {RWANDA} ; {KENYA} ; {TANZANIE} ; {AFRIQUE} {DU} {SUD} ; {REPUBLIQUE} {DEMOCRATIQUE} {DU} {CONGO}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{T}axon}, volume = {68}, numero = {3}, pages = {455--470}, ISSN = {0040-0262}, year = {2019}, DOI = {10.1002/tax.12072}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010077947}, }
