Gender responsive budgeting is gaining momentum as a way to address gender inequalities. Public finance management is now the focus of most efforts to main-streaming gender in budget planning, at the expense sometimes of more diverse strategies. Work is producing changes in practices at the meso institutional level but impacts at the macro level (on macroeconomic frameworks) and at the micro level (gender equality "on the ground") remain largely unknown.
