@article{fdi:010076196, title = {{L}e site d'{A}zrou {I}klane : un exemple d'usage de l'imagerie num{\'e}rique pour l'{\'e}tude et la pr{\'e}servation de l'art rupestre saharien = {T}he {A}zrou {I}klane site in {M}orocco, an example of digital imaging for the study and preservation of rock painting in the {S}ahara}, author = {{G}raff, {G}wenola and {L}oyer, {M}. and {E}wague, {A}. and {S}imenel, {R}omain and {B}ailly, {M}.}, editor = {}, language = {{FRE}}, abstract = {{F}rom 2013 to 2017 an archaeological study was carried out at the {A}zrou {I}klane site of rock art in {M}orocco. {T}he {F}rench-{M}oroccan team was led by {G}. {G}raff with the collaboration of several academic researchers ({IRD}, {U}niversity of {A}ix-{M}arseille, {CNRS}, {CNPR}) and a professional historic monuments photographer. {T}he site comprises a slab of sandstone measuring 120m by 20m, covered in thousands of engravings, protohistoric, {B}ovidien style ones, medieval ones ({L}ibyco-{B}erbere) and recent and modern ones. {T}he aims of the study were to establish original methodologies for the complete recording of the engravings and the development of a digital tool for their virtual preservation and to make them accessible to the general public, in spite of the site's isolated location. {F}rom a scientific point of view, the digital tool would also have to be able to take into account an understanding of the graphical overlapping of the engravings through time. {I}n agreement with the country's heritage authorities, the project comprised a mapping of the area using a differential global positioning system, employed to elaborate a digital elevation model. {T}his model was then enriched with the survey of the engravings carried out in a vector format drawing (done with machine intelligence), a photographic coverage using {G}igapixel, the virtual visits and 360 degrees images in the manner of {G}oogle {S}treet {V}iew. {U}sing the data acquired, a geographical information system is now being elaborated, {T}he {M}oroccan heritage services were keen supporters of this project which was an original one for the country and one that satisfied local demands for a better preservation and interpretation of the fragile engravings. {T}he different methodologies used, allowing for a fuller appreciation of the environmental and anthropological contexts and the precise record of each engraving, will facilitate the semiological analysis of the site, phase by phase or diachronically. {T}hey will also contribute to the interpretation and preservation of this site, of major significance in the realm of {M}oroccan rock art.}, keywords = {rock art ; heritage ; conservation ; {M}orocco ; digital archaeology ; {MAROC} ; {SAHARA}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}n {S}itu}, numero = {39}, pages = {en ligne [20 ]}, ISSN = {1630-7305}, year = {2019}, DOI = {10.4000/insitu.21607}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010076196}, }
