@article{fdi:010076179, title = {{T}he {SAFRAN} daily gridded precipitation product in {T}unisia (1979-2015)}, author = {{T}ramblay, {Y}ves and {F}eki, {H}. and {Q}uintana-{S}egui, {P}. and {G}uijarro, {J}. {A}.}, editor = {}, language = {{ENG}}, abstract = {{A} new high-resolution (5 km) gridded daily precipitation dataset for {T}unisia between 1979 and 2015 is introduced. {T}his product combines 960 rain gauges with the {SAFRAN} analysis to produce the precipitation gridded data. {A} validation approach on two different datasets reveals that the {SAFRAN} analysis outperforms other standard interpolation methods such as {I}nverse {D}istance, {N}earest {N}eighbors, {O}rdinary {K}riging or {R}esidual {K}riging with altitude. {W}hen compared to {EOBS}, a widely used gridded dataset over {E}urope, a strong negative bias in {EOBS} precipitation is found. {H}owever due to the aridity and the low density of rain gauges in south {T}unisia, results in this region must be analyzed with care. {T}he {SAFRAN} product could be useful for various purposes such as climate model evaluation, climate studies, hydrological modelling to support the planning and management of surface water resources in {T}unisia.}, keywords = {{I}nterpolation ; {P}recipitation ; {SAFRAN} ; {T}unisia ; {TUNISIE}}, booktitle = {}, journal = {{I}nternational {J}ournal of {C}limatology}, volume = {39}, numero = {12}, pages = {5830--5838}, ISSN = {0899-8418}, year = {2019}, DOI = {10.1002/joc.6181}, URL = {https://www.documentation.ird.fr/hor/fdi:010076179}, }
